Generative AI Use Policy

Purpose and Scope

DINAMIS Journal recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies may support certain aspects of research, writing, language improvement, data processing, and scholarly communication. Their use must not compromise research integrity, the originality of scholarly contributions, the accuracy of scientific information, or the transparency of the publication process.

This policy applies to authors, reviewers, and editors involved in the preparation, evaluation, and publication of manuscripts submitted to DINAMIS.

Use of AI by Authors

Authors may use appropriate AI-assisted tools for limited and responsible purposes, such as improving grammar and language, enhancing readability, organizing ideas, or assisting with preliminary exploration of a research topic. Authors must critically evaluate all AI-generated suggestions and remain responsible for the entire manuscript.

AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contribution, critical analysis, interpretation of research findings, or professional judgment. Authors must ensure that the final manuscript represents a genuine scholarly contribution and that all arguments, conclusions, and claims are supported by reliable evidence.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools when such tools have materially contributed to the development or preparation of the manuscript, including the generation of substantive text, analysis, interpretations, images, code, or other content that forms part of the scholarly work.

The disclosure should identify the AI tool used, explain its purpose, and describe the nature of its contribution. The disclosure may be included in an appropriate section of the manuscript, such as an acknowledgment or a separate AI-use statement, in accordance with the journal's submission instructions.

Routine spelling, grammar, or language-editing assistance that does not generate substantive scholarly content may not require a separate disclosure, unless otherwise requested by the journal. Authors should follow any additional disclosure requirements communicated by the editorial office.

Accuracy, Verification, and Accountability

AI-generated content may contain inaccurate statements, fabricated references, misleading interpretations, or unsupported conclusions. Authors must independently verify all facts, citations, references, data, calculations, code, and other outputs produced or assisted by AI tools before including them in a manuscript.

Authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their submitted and published work, regardless of whether AI-assisted tools were used.

AI and Authorship

Generative AI tools and other non-human systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is reserved for individuals who meet the journal's authorship criteria and can accept responsibility for their contributions to the work.

Authors must not use AI tools to fabricate research results, generate fictitious sources, manipulate evidence, conceal plagiarism, misrepresent contributions, or produce content that violates research ethics or publication standards.

Use of AI by Reviewers

Reviewers must protect the confidentiality of all manuscripts and related materials received for peer review. Manuscripts, unpublished data, reviewer reports, and confidential editorial communications must not be uploaded to public or third-party AI tools when doing so could disclose confidential information or violate applicable privacy, security, or journal requirements.

Reviewers must not delegate their independent scholarly evaluation to AI systems. If AI-assisted tools are permitted for limited support, reviewers remain responsible for the accuracy, fairness, originality, and confidentiality of their assessments and must comply with any instructions provided by the editorial office.

Use of AI by Editors

Editors must exercise independent academic judgment when evaluating manuscripts and making editorial decisions. Confidential submissions and editorial correspondence must be handled in accordance with the journal's confidentiality and data-protection requirements.

AI tools must not replace editorial responsibility for assessing scholarly quality, research integrity, ethical compliance, peer-review reports, or publication decisions. Editors remain accountable for decisions made during the editorial process.

Images, Data, Code, and Other AI-Generated Materials

Authors who use AI to generate or modify images, diagrams, code, datasets, or other materials must ensure that their use is appropriate for the research context and does not misrepresent evidence or research procedures. AI-generated or AI-modified materials must be disclosed where their contribution is material to the scholarly work.

AI-generated content must not be presented as authentic experimental evidence, original observations, or unaltered research data. Authors must comply with applicable ethical standards, copyright requirements, data-protection obligations, and any field-specific rules governing the use of AI.

Violations and Editorial Action

Failure to disclose material AI use, submission of fabricated or unverified AI-generated information, misuse of confidential materials, or other violations of this policy may result in editorial action. Depending on the circumstances, the journal may request clarification or revision, reject a manuscript, suspend the review process, or take appropriate post-publication action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

Suspected violations will be assessed fairly, taking into account the nature of the AI use, the evidence available, the authors' explanations, and the potential impact on research integrity.

Policy Review

DINAMIS may update this policy as generative AI technologies, scholarly publishing standards, and applicable ethical requirements evolve. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to follow the version of the policy applicable to their submission or editorial activity.
